Patriots drop conference games

The USA Patriots dropped a pair of Prairie Conference baseball games–to Browerville, 4-3, on Monday and to Eagle Valley, 11-6, on Thursday.

In the game at Browerville, USA received good pitching but had too many errors, according to Patriot coach Ken Solarz. BJ Lange pitched six innings and gave up six hits and three walks. He struck out four batters. The Patriots were guilty of six errors.

Offensively, Nick Johnson had two hits and drove in a run.

In the battle with Eagle Valley, starting pitcher Dustin Biniek was chased from the mound by the Rebels in the first inning after he allowed four runs on three walks and two hits. Relief pitchers included Craig Peterson, Jeremy Johnson and Jeff Zylka.

Peterson led the Patriots at the plate with two hits and two RBI. In addition, Lange tripled and drove in a pair of runs and Scott Pepin doubled.
