Flyer girls tip Cardinals in soccer

Little Falls girls’ soccer team defeated visiting Willmar, 2-1, in Central Lakes Conference action on Thursday.

“It was a scoreless first half,” Flyer coach Nadine Wangerin said. “Their goalie was outstanding. We had 52 shots on goal in the game while Willmar had 11. We clearly out-played them.”

Willmar scored first in the second half on a penalty shot. Little falls came back on a goal by Ann Roach and the winner in the final minute by Holly Beto on a corner shot. Offensively, Ann Roach had 13 shots, Rachel Parsons had nine, Holly Hoheisel had eight and Colleen Roach (who normally goaltends for the Flyers) had five.

Little Falls goalie Theresa Cameron had 10 saves.
