Flyers and Pioneers fall in tennis to non-conference foes by point

Little Falls won two of the doubles matches and one of the singles matches during a 4-3 non-conference loss to visiting St. cloud Cathedral on Thursday afternoon.

Winning in singles for Little Falls was senior Jessica Waltman at the no. 4 position in three sets–3-6, 6-4 and 7-5.

In doubles, Kate Fogle and Shelby Swenson teamed up to win 7-6 (on a 7-2 tie-breaker) and 6-2 at no. 2 and Nicki Olson and Elizabeth Brisk won in three sets–3-6, 6-1 and 6-0–at no. 3.

Thunder tops Pioneers in non-conference tilt
The visiting Long Prairie-Grey Eagle Thunder handed the Pierz Pioneers their second loss of the season in 17 matches. The score was 4-3.

Melissa Girtz was the lone singles winner for Pierz; she won in straight sets of 6-3 and 6-0. Pierz won at no.1 doubles (Kristine Jensen and Sheena Loidolt) in three sets and at no. 3 doubles (Kelly Lochner and Carrie Korf) in identical sets of 6-3.
