Facilitators and teachers praise ‘Art From the Land’ workshop

“One of our goals has been to influence rural schools to make the arts a central aspect of their curriculum,” stated Phil Gurbada.

Gurbada, who is the Royalton Elementary principal was serving in the capacity of a facilitator at the ArtStart’s “Art From Land 2001” workshop which was recently held at the Royalton Elementary School. He added, “The children from rural areas have tremendous talent in the arts, but, it needs to be developed. The arts are the gateway to imagination.”

Twenty-six educators from Royalton, Swanville, Pierz and Little Falls School Districts attended the program which was funded by a $50,000 grant from the State Department of Children Families and Learning and matching in-kind funding.
