LF Legion extends winning string to six

Little Falls American Legion baseball team extended its unbeaten string to six games when Post 46 took to the road and swept a double header from Staples on Wednesday. Scores were 4-1 and 11-4.

In the opener, Post 46 collected six hits, led by Matt Gohl who was 2/3. Both Pat Krebs and Isaac Smieja had hits; Krebs also scored twice, according to Coach Brad Czech.

Little Falls pitcher Mike Darmante struck out three batters on the way to the win.

In the nightcap, Mike Schwientek received the call to the mound and earned the win for Post 46. He fanned five batters and scattered five hits.

Schwientek helped his own cause at the plate. He led Little Falls with a 3/3 performance and scored twice. Teammate Noah Czech was 2/4 with an RBI and run scored.
