Calling for a bigger and better county fair

The excitement is growing for many as the 2001 Morrison County Fair approaches. Dates for this year’s fair—the ninth to be held at the new fairgrounds—are Wednesday through Saturday.

“Everything is going as planned,” said Fair Board President Mike Wilson. “Finances are fine; the race track is going well and the commercial exhibits are pretty much filled.”

Offerings at the fair will be pretty much the same as the previous few years. Visitors will get to see the commercial exhibits as well as the animals and projects brought in by 4-Hers and those entering the “open” classes. Special shows will include, on Saturday, the horse show at 9 a.m., the draft horse show at 5 p.m., the state Charolais Beef junior show at 9 a.m., and the State Charolais Beef open show at 10 a.m.
