Charge implemented on commercial brush

Effective Oct. 1, a fee of $3 per cubic yard will be charged for all commercial brush hauled to the Greater Morrison Sanitary Landfill. Commercial brush is described as anything larger than a standard pickup load.

The Morrison County Commissioners approved the fee at Tuesday’s meeting.

Public Works Director Steve Backowski informed the commissioners that the original purpose of the brush pile had been to provide a place for residential brush up to three inches in diameter. He noted that more and more larger loads, pieces and stumps in the center of a load have been uncovered which takes substantially more time for county crews to dispose of.

The commissioners approved the fee unanimously 4-0. Commissioner Bill Block was absent from the meeting.

In other business, the commissioners:

• Entered into an agreement with Richardson Township for culvert replacement on 360th Ave.;

• Set Sept.20 at 8:30 a.m. for a meeting with landowners concerned with Fletcher Creek flooding issues;

• Accepted the resignation of the Assistant Zoning Officer/ Water Plan Coordinator;

• Approved a public health establishment license for Barbara Tretter, new owner of the B & T Bootleggers, Inc., Pierz;

• Approved the agricultural inspector’s annual report; and

• Discussed residential services for mental health clients.
