Healy High Artist of the Month named

Nikki O’Hotto has been named Artist of the Month for June. Her new status was earned by the consistently excellent work that she has produced in her eighth grade art class.

Born in Little Falls, Nikki moved with her family to Willmar and then to International Falls before finally settling in the Pierz area where she attended Pioneer Elementary.

Nikki’s artistic interests are reflected in her choice of extra curricular activities at school. She participated in dance and the one act play. Outside of school she likes to swim, fish, read and draw.

Even though she has had no formal art classes until this year, she said she has always been artistic, taking after her dad. She especially enjoys working with paint and clay.

A petite 13-year-old, Nikki is quiet, responsible, and independent. Not only is she an exceptional art student, but maintains a position on the A honor roll. She is the daughter of Rod and Deanna O’Hotto of rural Pierz.

The Family Medical Center in Pierz will exhibit Nikki’s marker design throughout the summer and her pen and ink fish drawing will be on display in the Healy office. Her mask will also photographed to appear in the upcoming community calendar sponsored by the Healy TST (Teens Supporting Teens) organization.
