Local Relay For Life surpasses $105,000

(Pictured before the local Relay For Life got underway, Co-chairs Susy and Dr. Phil Prosapio thanked everyone for attending. Across Flyer Field, in the grandstands, luminaries spelled out the theme of the night—One Day, One Night, One Reason. Staff photo by Joyce Moran)

Looking at the Relay in general, Prosapio said, “It went so well. It was just outstanding. The audience and team members were just great. And, the weather held up. We couldn’t have painted a better picture. I was overwhelmed. So many also said how ‘moving’ it all was. Oh, yes, there were mosquitoes. But, the speakers didn’t eat too many. They were bad but not terrible.”

Approximately 400 individuals, making up 32 teams, walked the night of July 26-27 at Flyer Field to raise money for cancer research and for the care needed by those inflicted with cancer. Each walker was to collect at least $100.
