Flyer gymnasts place 3rd in Park Rapids

The Flyer Gymnastics team nearly missed the chance to take third place at the Park Rapids Invitational. Icy roads Jan. 4 delayed the team’s arrival to the competition. The Park Rapids judges were kinder than the weather though, allowing Little Falls time to prepare.

That kindness backfired against the competition as strong performances by the entire team helped push the Flyers to third place at the invitational.

Freshman Shae Tabatt again paced the Flyers. Tabatt finished third in the all-around field of 32 competitors with a total score of 35.3, a season high. Her first place performance on the floor, 9.175, a second place finish on the bars with 9.0, and strong finishes on the beam, 8.575, and tenth place in the vault with 8.6, greatly enhanced the Flyer finish.

Freshman Beth Prokott finished fifth on the bars with a score of 8.5 and ninth on the floor with a 8.525. Prokott’s efforts gained her tenth place in the all-around competition.

Brianna Sanoski, eighth grade, grabbed season high scores across the board. With scores 7.25 on the beam, 7.35 on the bars and 7.95 on the floor, Sanoski finished 20th all-around with a score of 29.95.

Ali LeBlanc, junior co-captain, also tallied season highs at the Park Rapids Invitational. LeBlanc gained season highs on the beam, 7.0, the floor, 7.725, and 8.25 on the beam. LeBlanc finished 28th in the all-around competition with a score of 28.425, another season high.

Co-captain Maggi Wilczek, and sophomores Darci Okerman and Brianna Hanson added their own strong performances to help the Flyers earn third with a team score of 128.6, yet another season high.
