The good news is that the Upsala store will re-open Monday, Feb. 3, at 7:30 a.m with the exception of the fresh meat department.

Friends, family and employees were busy stocking shelves and tidying the bustling store Jan. 30. Stacked boxes waiting to be unloaded stood in the aisles as employees front-faced the goods and entered serial numbers into the computer.

The cause of the fire has yet to be determined, but its effects were very serious for the western Morrison County grocery. “All of our food was lost,” said Koetter. “We lost everything and the damage was pretty serious. The food, all of it, went to a food salvage company. So what you see here on the shelves,” explained Kathy, “is brand new.”

The cause of the fire has not been determined but is believed to have started in a outdoor trash can. The estimated cost of the fire has not been determined as of Jan. 30.

“We just want to thank the entire community for their support throughout our closing,” smiled Kathy. “We’ve gotten a lot of phone calls, cards and gifts from people around the community.”

Bob Koetter, Kathy’s father-in-law and owner of Bob and Fran’s Grocery in Swanville, was also helping with the reconstruction. “We couldn’t have done this without help from the entire community. Thank you.”
