Cleanup crew concludes Lions Parade

Concluding the Oktoberfest Parade Sunday in Pierz was this antique manure spreader offering “horse apples” for sale. The unit followed the Morrison County Sheriff’s Mounted Patrol and other horse-drawn wagons. Although the product was plentiful, there were no takers for the organic fertilizer. Sponsored by the Pierz Lions, the parade was one of the biggest and best ever with lots of fire trucks, flags, marching bands, queens, clowns, candy, a monkey, music, floats, horses, classic cars, antique tractors, entertainment and a mobile volleyball game. The Pierz Healy High girls’ volleyball team took their show on the road, net and all. In addition, the dazzling Pierz Pizazz dance line performed live despite the heat. They were sponsored by Red’s Auto and Bait. Staff photo by Lorae Vardas
