Flyer swimming continues making progress

The Little Falls swim team traveled to Apollo for a Sept. 30 meet in which they came away with three wins and seven runner-ups.

The team ended up on the short end of the meet, losing 105-79.

Brittany Corrow came away with two wins, one coming in the 200 Individual Medley with a time of 2 minutes, 36.45 seconds, and the 100 Butterfly with a time of 1:08.90.

Kelsey DeRosier took the win in the 100 Backstroke with a time of 1:16.94.

Amanda Dunlap and Ashley Neudecker earned second and third place finishes in the 50 Freestyle.

Cziti Fedenici came away with a third place finish on the diving board with a score of 122.55, and Tanya Meschke had a “really good night” according to Head Coach Liz Brill, “She’s been out with illnesses and ankle problems. So I was really impressed with her time.”

In the team’s second meet of the week they hosted Willmar, Oct. 2.

Corrow and DeRosier had the team’s three first place finishes again, and although it wasn’t a win, the team had a great night according to Brill.

“The girls worked really hard to race their own clock and beat their best times. The girls are working well and we mixed up some relays and I think it also worked well for us,” the coach said.

Corrow emerged with a win in the 200 IM with a time of 2:56.50, beating her nearest competition by over three seconds. She also took over three seconds off her winning time from Apollo. Her second win came in the 500 Freestyle with a time of 6:18.09. She beat the second place finisher by over six seconds.

DeRosier took the top spot in the 100 Backstroke with a time of 1:15.10, which was a second better than her personal best.

Amanda Dunlap found a new event, as Coach Brill put her in the 100 Breast stroke, “She keeps dropping time and it’s been a great event for her,” Brill added. She came away with a second place finish.

The JV squad continues to make improvements as they had seven-second place finishes against Willmar.

Kelsey Swanson took two individual second places, in the 100 Breaststroke and 200 Freestyle. She was also on the 200 medley relay which placed second.

Jenna Peterson was runner-up in the 100 Freestyle and Melissa VanBuren did the same in the 50 Freestyle. The 200 Freestyle Relay also took second place.

At Apollo the team had just five girls competing. The top finisher was Alyssa Boseman who placed second in the 50 Freestyle with a time of 37.48.
