Gun classes, cards and bingo in Swanville

By adeline hartwig
A gun safety course was held in Swanville recently, with 19 individuals, including one adult, taking the classes. The book classes were held in five sessions at the school. The field tests were held on the Bob Popken farm. All taking the course passed the final test. Working with the classes were Bob and Joel Popken, Roy Nelson, Jim Dickson and Bill Schillinger, with Randy Mettle as an assistant.
The Swanville senior citizens held their September birthday party at the center on Sept. 15, with Donna Johnson as the only honored guest present. Bingo, cards, visiting and a potluck lunch completed the afternoon.
Card parties have started at the senior center. The next one is set for Oct. 8 at 1 p.m. They are open to the public.
The “Dollars for Scholars” committee will again sponsor bingo every Sunday afternoon, starting Oct. 3 at 2 p.m. All proceeds go into the college scholarship fund for local seniors who apply.
