The Legislative conference committee March 30 agreed to an $886 million bonding bill. The legislation dedicates funds to repair or construct infrastructure projects across the state.
Blaine was pleased the bonding package included a bill that provided asset preservation for Camp Ripley in Morrison County, and an appropriation of $5.95 million to construct and furnish a heavy equipment shop space at the Staples West Campus and to remodel vacated space at the Brainerd campus of the Central Lakes College.
Other bonding projects of note include: $50 million to fund local road and bridge projects throughout the state; $670,000 to the World War II monument; $23 million to the Conservation Reserve Enhancement Program (CREP); $10 million in Waste-water Infrastructure Fund (WIF) funding; and $213.5 million for Minnesota State Colleges and Universities projects.
The Minnesota House will vote on the bill on Monday, April 4. If both the House and Senate approve it, then it will go to Gov. Tim Pawlenty for his signature.
