To the Editor:
It has been almost four years since state Senator Paul Koering was elected to office. He has worked hard and delivered for his constituents. But working hard is nothing new to Senator Koering. He was a dairy farmer for 15 years and was milking 60 cows twice a day the first two times he ran for office. He sold the herd after the second campaign but still has a small farming operation baling and selling his hay crop. He owns a funeral car service in Brainerd that provides hearses and drivers to area funeral homes and he also works for the Crow Wing County Coroner as a “transportation officer.” He owned and operated Max’s Package Liquor in Brainerd for several years.
This experience as a farmer and small business owner/operator has given him a good understanding of the state’s rural economy. It has also been helpful in his work on the senate committees on which he serves: Agriculture, Veterans Affairs and Gaming, Capital Investment and Health and Human Services Budget Division.
Senator Koering is an effective and productive legislator who has done a great deal of good for his district. We need to keep him in office.—Stan Hanna, Little Falls.
