Bus trip planned to W.W. II Memorial dedication



Local residents are invited to ride a bus down to the dedication of the Minnesota World War II Memorial at the St. Paul Capitol building Saturday, June 9. The bus will leave the Little Falls VFW at 7:30 a.m. and return at 7 p.m. All veterans will ride free; others will be asked to pay $10. The trip is being sponsored by DAV Chapter 12, VFW Post 1112 and the American Legion, all of Little Falls.


The free event at the memorial will go from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. A tentative list of events include the display of military exhibits, a roll call of Minnesota casualties, news reels, food, a flyover of WWII aircraft at 2 p.m., a group picture of Minnesota WWII veterans on the front steps of the capitol at 1 p.m., and WWII era singers and orchestra performing popular period songs. A program starts at 2 p.m. and will include a color guard, speakers, music and the dedication of the monument. The program will end with a 21 gun salute and Echo Taps.
