Ronald (Rennie) Allen Ryan, 91, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May
29, 2008, at theryan.jpg Milaca Elim Home. Funeral services were held on
Monday, June 2, 2008 at the Peterson- Johnson Funeral Home with Rev.
Tom Sahlstrom officiating. Interment followed at Borgholm Cemetery,
Casket bearers included Matthew Ryan, Bradley Ryan, Roger Ryan, George
Boyer, Todd Boyer and Jim Eggen. Military honors were provided by
Hansen-Hayes American Legion Post #178 and Siemers-Hayes VFW Post
#10794.

Rennie was born on August 21, 1916. in Langdon ND, to the late Frank and Dora (Olafson) Ryan. He attended country school near his home in Hannah, ND. He farmed with a team of eight horses on the 1000 acre family farm prior to enlisting in the US Army Air Corps in 1942. He received seven Battle stars serving in Rome-Arno, Southern France, Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe during WWII. After his honorable discharge at the rank of Staff Sgt. In 1945, Rennie returned to farming in North Dakota where he married Yvonne Phelps Halls, his wife of 61 years. He moved his family to a farm near Bock, MN, in 1958 where he continued dairy farming for many years. While farming he was employed at Vertiflo in Princeton and retired in 1979.


Rennie loved babies and they seemed to feel his lap was always the best seat in the house. He also loved farming, all animals, and cutting wood, especially if it involved using a chain saw.
Rennie is survived by his wife Yvonne, children, Muriel (George) Boyer of Foreston- John Ryan (Rita deceased) of Golden Valley, AZ; daughter-in-law Jackie Ryan of Foreston, Sandra (Doug) Chasteen of Houston, TX; Randel (Sharon) Ryan of Milaca and Barbara Ryan of Albertville; 14 grandchildren and 22 great- grandchildren; two sisters, Isabelle Shortridge of Fresno, CA, and Jan Glaser of Lake of the Woods, MN, sister -in- law Doris Ryan of Langdon,
Rennie was preceded in death by his parents; son Frank Ryan, daughter-in law Rita, brothers Robert, Clifford, Edward, Elmer, and Orin and his sister Dorothy.
