Twins announce plans for final series in the Metrodome

NEWS RELEASE

Minneapolis-St. Paul, MN – The Minnesota Twins have announced plans for the final regular season series in the Metrodome, starting Friday, Oct. 2 through Sunday, Oct. 4 against the Kansas City Royals.

The Twins have raised the curtain for the final game on Sunday, Oct. 4, which is now sold out. Good seats remain for Fan Appreciation Weekend presented by DQ on Friday, Oct. 2 and Saturday, Oct. 3.

 

Plans for the weekend are as follows:

Friday, Oct. 2 – 7:10 p.m. – Twins vs. Kansas City Royals
Fan Appreciation Day presented by DQ – All fans will receive a 2009/2010 Target Field Calendar. Fans will also have an opportunity to win prizes throughout the game from the Twins and the team’s corporate partners.

· 5 p.m. – Gates open

· 6:30 p.m. – A special pregame ceremony will feature a salute to Metropolitan Sports Facilities Commission (MSFC) employees who have been instrumental in serving Twins fans over the team’s 28-year span in the Metrodome.

· 7:10 p.m. – The Twins take on the Kansas City Royals after a first pitch from an MSFC representative. MSFC employees will sing “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” during the 7th inning stretch and Wally “The Beer Man” McNeil will ceremonially remove the number 3 from the Twins countdown to outdoor baseball.

Saturday, Oct. 3 – 3:10 p.m. (note time change) – Twins vs. Kansas City Royals
Fan Appreciation Day presented by DQ – All fans will receive a 2009/2010 Target Field Calendar. Fans will also have an opportunity to win prizes throughout the game from the Twins and the team’s corporate partners.

· 1 p.m. – Gates open

· 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. – Alumni player photo sessions

•   Fans are invited to participate in photo sessions with former Twins players before the game in the Metrodome concourses.

Sunday, Oct. 4 – 1:10 p.m. – Twins vs. Kansas City Royals (SOLD OUT!)
Final regular season game in the Metrodome – All fans will receive a certificate commemorating their attendance at the final regular season game in the Metrodome.

· 11 a.m. – Gates Open

· 1:10 p.m. – The Twins face the Kansas City Royals after a ceremonial first pitch from Skip Humphrey, son of the late Hubert H. Humphrey.

· Postgame – A special hour-long postgame ceremony will celebrate the great players and moments of the Twins 28-year run in the Metrodome.

•   Members of the All-Metrodome team, World Series teams (1987, 1991) and Division Championship teams (2002, 2003, 2004, 2006) will be celebrated on the field during the ceremony.
