Gov. Pawlenty will appeal judge’s ruling on unallotment process

Gov. Tim Pawlenty met with the media today (Thursday, Dec. 31) at a press conference at the State Capitol, St. Paul, to discuss yesterday’s judicial ruling on unallotment. He will appeal a ruling that challenged his unilateral budget cuts imposed this summer.

Ramsey County District Court Judge Kathleen Gearin said Pawlenty “trod upon the constitutional power of the Legislature” when he unilaterally cut $2.7 billion from the budget last summer using a procedure called unallotment. Listen to comments from Gov. Pawlenty in this podcast.
