Blaine stops FL, 48-23 in sectional football

Forest Lake has been eliminated in the Section 7AAAAA football playoffs. The Rangers lost at Blaine on Saturday, 48-23 in the sectional semi-finals to end the season 4-6. The Bengals, the top seed in the Section 7 tournament, scored five touchdowns in the second quarter to break open the contest and earn the right to play Andover in the sectional title game. Andover slipped by Coon Rapids, 17-16, in the other semi-final contest. Six Forest Lake turnovers were instrumental as Blaine built a 48-7 lead before Forest Lake scored two fourth period touchdowns and a pair of two-point conversions. Tommy Tyson’s 91-yard kickoff return for a touchdown in the second quarter was one bright spot for the Rangers.
