Large grass fire at Bunker Hills Regional Park burns 20 acres

A brush fire burned some 20 acres of Anoka County’s Bunker Hills Regional Park Saturday night. But no buildings or shelters were in the path of the fire, nor were the campground areas of the park.

The call came into Coon Rapids Fire Department shortly after 10 p.m. as a possible fire at the compost site, but that was not the case.

The large grass fire was located in a remote area of the regional park north of the compost site in Andover, according to Coon Rapids Fire Capt. Aaron Johnston. See more in Editor Peter Bodley’s ABC Newspapers story.
