With a quick vote, the St. Francis City Council set its 2012 budget and levy Dec. 19.

The council held its tax levy at $2,873,160, the same as the last two years, and its budget at $8,508,947, as discussed at its Dec. 6 meeting.

The levy includes $2,852,260 for the general fund and $20,900 for its debt service.

Cost to home owners

For a median home in St. Francis, the value is $133,200 and it will likely pay $576 in city taxes after the Homestead Market Value Exclusion, Finance Director Darcy Mulvihill said.

It equates to $48 a month to pay for general government, public safety (police and fire), street and parks, she said.

A home valued at $193,200 in 2011 is now worth $166,917 after the $20,383 exclusion, Mulvihill said.

That home will pay $890 in city property taxes, a $57 increase from 2011, she said.
